 What to do if....

 

  • Contact recruiters in the fall of the senior year.

  • Make an appointment with your counselor to review your career interest inventory on NJCAN.
  • Attend the Atlantic City High School Career Fair and Beyond High School Day events
  • Explore the Occupational Outlook Handbook
  • Find job openings and review training requirements for certain jobs NJ State Employment

  • Consider applying to Atlantic Cape Community College
  • Make an appointment and visit the institution
  • Attend College Fairs in your area.
  • Fill out the FAFSA to see if you qualify for financial a
  • Follow the ACHS application procedures for Jump Start.
  • Meet with College or Tech School representatives at the high school whenever possible.

  • Begin your file with the New Jersey senators and your congressional representative by contacting their office
  • Submit cards to selected service academies to begin your file.
  • Visit academy site if possible. Summer camps are offered for students between junior and senior year
  • Check online for applications. It is strongly suggested that interested students apply for and attend these seminars.
  • Attend an All Academy Day to learn more about application process and visit with academy representative
  • Take SAT and/or ACT and forward scores to senators and representatives
  • Turn in all applications by deadline Selection committees will evaluate all applicants via personal interview and application.

The guidance department has current information for each branch of the military and ROTC opportunities.

Also, representatives of each branch of the military visit our high school each year.  If your student is interested in military academies, the application process must begin junior year.  

Military Academies

Graduation Course Requirements

  • 4 years of English 
  • 4 years Physical Education/Health
  • 3 years Social Studies (WH/US1/US2)
  • 3 years Mathematics (must include Algebra 1 & Geometry)
  • 3 years of Science (2 lab sciences-Biology/Chemistry/Environmental/Physics)
  • 1 year of a World Language
  • 1 year of an Elective (Visual & Performing Art)
  • 1 year of an Elective (Career, Family & Life Skills, or Vocational-Technical Education)
  • 1 year of Financial Literacy (Senior Year)

Graduation Credit Requirements

Students must earn a minimum of 120 credits & pass all requirements listed above in order to participate in graduation ceremonies.

A student needs:

  • 30 credits to become a sophomore
  • 60 credits to become a junior  
  • 90 credits to become a senior
